What E-E-A-T is and why it is decisive

E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness: the four qualities Google uses to assess how reliable and authoritative a source is. It is not a single ranking factor you switch on, but an overarching quality judgement that carries through into your entire visibility. Especially for important, informational or sensitive topics, Google looks at this closely.

In the AI era, E-E-A-T has only become more important. In AI Overviews and recommendations, Google cites precisely the sources it has come to know as expert and reliable. Without demonstrable E-E-A-T you stay invisible in exactly those answers.

It is important to understand that E-E-A-T is not a trick you sort out in an afternoon, but a reputation you build and make demonstrable. Google derives it from a broad set of signals: your content, your structured data, what others say about you, and how transparent you are. That very breadth makes strong E-E-A-T a lasting competitive advantage: it cannot be copied with one intervention and cannot be undermined by one algorithm update. Those who lay the foundation well reap the rewards for years, in both classic and AI results.

Making the four pillars demonstrable

E-E-A-T is not a matter of claiming, but of proving. You show Experience with first-hand, practical content. Expertise with in-depth, correct content and demonstrable qualifications. Authoritativeness with authoritative mentions and external recognition. Trustworthiness with transparency: accurate details, real reviews, a clear profile.

I map out where your E-E-A-T is strong and where signals are missing, and fill those gaps in a targeted way, so that each of the four pillars becomes visible and verifiable for Google and AI.

A common mistake is that businesses claim expertise without backing it up. A page that claims to be ‘the best in the region’ without any proof convinces neither Google nor an AI model. What does work is showing instead of telling: concrete cases, verifiable qualifications, real names and faces, and references to what others say about you. I help you build up that body of evidence and make it visible, so your claims are supported by demonstrable facts rather than marketing language that algorithms actually distrust.

Structured data and your entity

A large part of E-E-A-T can be made machine-readable through structured data. I strengthen your entity with correct Person and Organization schema, a consistent sameAs network, and links to authoritative sources such as Wikidata. Google can then not only read your expertise and authority, but also verify them and link them to your entity.

This entity foundation is exactly what a language model needs to mention you with confidence: it makes you ‘safe to recommend’.

Building authority with authoritative mentions

Authoritativeness comes from outside: what do others say about you? I work on authoritative mentions and references, from relevant media and platforms to encyclopaedic sources, that back up your external recognition. This outside confirmation carries more weight than what you say about your own business.

Combined with your own strong content, this creates a credible, coherent picture that makes your authority unmistakable.

E-E-A-T, YMYL and AI Overviews

For YMYL topics (Your Money or Your Life), anything that affects someone’s money, health or safety, E-E-A-T is decisive. Google only wants to show and cite demonstrably expert, reliable sources there. Strong E-E-A-T is therefore the gateway to visibility in AI Overviews and complex, informational searches.

This ties in directly with my GEO approach: E-E-A-T is the foundation of trust on which AI visibility rests.

Approach and rate

I deliver E-E-A-T optimisation as a targeted programme from €750. I analyse your current E-E-A-T signals, identify the gaps, and strengthen each of the four pillars in a structured way, from content and schema to mentions and transparency.
